The Poundbury Studio
We begin with a memory—not a scent profile, not a market trend, but a specific, highly personal moment in time. Rolling the car windows down on the A30 as the coast finally comes into view. Stepping into the humid, sun-baked sanctuary of a wooden greenhouse. The profound, exhausted peace when the house finally falls silent at seven o'clock.
From there, we work backwards. What notes would evoke that memory? What visual language would support it? What story would frame it? The result is not a candle—it is a narrative device, a tool for time travel.
Our studio sits in Poundbury, Dorset—a town built on principles of traditional architecture and human-scale design. It is a fitting home for a practice rooted in craftsmanship and intentionality. Here, from our private workspace, we blend, pour, cure, and seal every volume entirely by hand.
Because our footprint is small, our production runs remain uncompromisingly limited. There are no production lines, no automation. Each vessel passes through our hands multiple times before it is deemed ready for the Archive.
The Architecture
The Materials
01. The Wax
A proprietary blend of Coconut and Rapeseed (RCX). Completely free from paraffin, soy, palm, beeswax, and synthetic additives. Chosen for a slow, clean, and honest burn. Sustainably sourced, ethically produced.
02. The Fragrance
We work exclusively with fragrance houses that prioritise extraction methods and transparent sourcing. Every oil is selected for its ability to evoke a specific memory. Complexity over simplicity. Depth over immediacy.
03. The Vessel
Apothecary-style amber glass, chosen to protect the fragrance from light degradation. Black Ash Wood lids, hand-turned and fitted. Foil-stamped presentation tubes. Every element is considered, nothing is purely decorative.

Retired recipes and strictly limited seasonal allocations. Accessible exclusively to members currently inscribed within The Ledger.
