Where are your candles made?
All Fable & Dusk candles are handcrafted in small batches at our Poundbury studio in Dorset, England. We take a slow, intentional approach to craft - from selecting materials to formulating scent profiles.
What makes your candles 'narrative'?
Each fragrance is formulated around an authentic sensory memory - a captured moment. The narrative framing (The Library, The Archive) provides context, but the scent itself is the story. Think of them as olfactory archives rather than themed products.
Do you ship throughout the UK?
Yes. We ship premium atmospheric candles UK-wide from our Dorset studio. Each vessel is carefully packaged in our signature buckram box with protective materials. Standard delivery takes 3-5 working days.
What materials do you use?
We use clean-burning soy wax blends, housed in amber glass vessels with bespoke matte black wooden closures. The outer packaging is buckram-wrapped, designed to last beyond the burn. All our candles are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.
Are they suitable as gifts?
Absolutely. Our candles are curated sensory experiences - gifts with depth and intention. The presentation (buckram box, amber vessel, wooden closure) is designed to feel archival and premium, not disposable.
How long do they burn?
Each 30cl vessel burns for approximately 40-50 hours, depending on burn conditions. We recommend trimming the wick to 5mm before each use and allowing the wax to pool to the edge on the first burn.
What is The Ledger?
The Ledger is our private subscription offering exclusive access to limited-edition atmospheric fragrances. Members receive monthly drops of Archive candles before they're released publicly, along with early access to seasonal collections.
Can I return or exchange a candle?
We accept returns of unused candles within 30 days of delivery. Due to the nature of fragrance, we cannot accept returns of lit candles unless faulty. Please contact our studio at studio@fableanddusk.com for returns.
How do I care for my candle?
Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn. Allow the wax to pool to the edges on the first burn (1-2 hours). Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Keep away from drafts and flammable materials. The wooden closure can be reused as a coaster or decorative element.
Do you offer bespoke fragrances?
We occasionally take commissions for bespoke fragrance formulation. This is a collaborative process involving multiple rounds of sampling. Please enquire via our contact page with details of your project.
